The English Lake District, home of Wordsworth, Coleridge, Ruskin, and other great Romantic and Victorian writers, is located in the northwest of England. For those who read the Romantics, Briton or otherwise, it is a special place to visit. And for those who appreciate subtle and beautiful landscapes, generally under relentlessly gray skies, with cool temperatures but warmed by some of the best beers and ales in the world, they are in the company of thousands who over the centuries have traveled here to appreciate the special beauty of this part of the world.
In September, 2009 I participated in the centuries old activity of fellwalking, trekking nearly 60 miles over a few days with a bag of the venerable Kodachrome 25, a tripod and a Hasselblad XPan panorama camera, photographing landscapes and tiny villages (the center of which was always the pub). The result is this portfolio of 10 images.
The photographs have been printed in two forms. The first is a limited edition presentation boxed portfolio of 10 matted and signed images. Each photograph, before matting, is about 6x15 inches. The edition of ten boxes is $1900 each. The second format includes 8x20 sized images (approximately), matted, in an edition of 20, signed and priced at $500 each. All prints are archival pigment ink prints on fiber paper.
